I am always cautious of the marketing label “ceremonial “ cause it’s just supposed to be organic matcha, Interestingly, there’s no strong green tea fragrance or flavour which I was hoping for in comparison to the green tea matcha I had in Japan. I am trying a few matches and I know when my olfactory taste from 20 will be triggered.
Thank you for your review! It sounds like you had a fantastic experience with matcha in Japan (as a Japanese person, this makes me so happy :-)!). The matcha you enjoyed there might have been high-quality ceremonial grade, which is often NON-organic. Our variety is ORGANIC ceremonial grade and is the top of the organic varieties. My mother, a tea ceremony sensei in Japan, actually helped us select this variety. It strikes a perfect balance of flavour, not overly bitter for New Zealand palates. There are many different grades of NON-organic matcha, some used for Koicha, a thicker and more intense tea. We'd love to offer this option in the future, but currently, the demand is low and the cost is quite high. However, if there's enough interest, we'd be happy to bring it in! So please let us know if you'd be keen on trying a stronger matcha.
I have started craving my morning matcha, I love the stable energy that it give me through the day.
